Whoe'er has traveled life's dull road,
Whate'er his various tour has been,
May sigh to think how oft he found
His warmest welcome at an Inn
-William Shenstone (1714-1763) |

Nestled on a quiet street, just off famed
Bellevue Avenue, the Brinley is centrally located in
Newport's Historic Hill District.
Park in our ample off road lot and walk down
cobblestone streets past hundreds of restored
colonials on your way to tour the oldest synagogue
in America, the first Episcopal church, the lavish
mansions of the Gilded Age, or the Tennis Hall of
Fame.
The
quaint shops and restaurants lining Thames Street,
the lively wharves, the magnificent harbor, the
Cliff Walk with it's panoramic views of the Atlantic
Ocean - all are in easy walking distance.
The oldest continuously used library in the country
(Redwood, 1748) and the Newport Art Museum are just
around the corner.

Newport's Brinley Victorian Inn consists of
two connected houses: one built circa 1850 has seven
rooms; the other built circa 1870 has nine.
The properties have had a number of uses through
the years including guest house, apartments,
retirement home and finally a bed and breakfast Inn
in 1980.
The
Brinley is one of the larger Inns in Newport. Each
house has it's own porch and a parlor where guests
can opt to relax a while prior to the commencement
of a busy day, or likewise, at the end of one.
You may also choose to sit in the private Victorian
courtyard, situated between the two houses, which is
stocked with a variety of flowers and plants for
guests to enjoy.
The
Courtyard is an ideal spot in which to eat your
lavish continental breakfast on sunny mornings
(freshly baked and prepared by Jennifer), or maybe
to sunbathe away from the hustle and bustle of
Newport when the mood dictates.
There is also a small library from which guests can
borrow from the numerous selection of magazines and
books during their stay.
The Brinley is a smoke free establishment.
